  • Great Day Trip
    By ディラン, 08/22/08
This would be a great place to spend the day, I would sugguest skipping the cable car and even going off of the main path onto some of the smaller nature trails. The Temple on Mt Takao you are able to go inside which you are usally unable to do at most temples in the Tokyo area.

Just 51 minutes west of Shinjuku lies Mount Takao and the Yakou-in shrine. There are six different nature trails to the top (about 600 meters high), where you can relax over a beer and look out over the metropolis below to the east and Mount Fuji to the west. Recommended Routes are 6 along the valley, going up, and 5, walking down, which take about ...

  • A Great Break from Busy Downtown Tokyo
    By Jay-Z, 08/03/05
Climbing Mt. Takao in the middle of the heat wave of summer can make for a sweaty, but incredibly rewarding trip. For those short on cash, you can't beat the inexpensive trip to Takao. There are approximately 6 major trails up the mountain to the visitor's center on top, of varying degrees of difficulty and grooming. Trail No. 1 takes ...

  • Easy Hiking
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/04
If you seriously like nature and like to hike, then skip Mt. Takao and take the Chuo-line a little farther where you'll find some real trails. But for those who want a little exercise (but not too much), Mt. Takao is a nice place to start. Skip the chair lift, it's not a difficult walk up unless you are totally out of shape. And there are plenty of vending machines and little shops on the way up where you can stop and rest.

  • Hiking
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/04
There are various possible hiking routes up, across and down mount Takao. In the summer there's plenty of shade for hiking without the sun beating down on you, and the view of the different coloured leaves in autumn is spectacular to say the least. If you want to continue your walk on to Sagami Lake, you'll be able to enjoy a number of very ...
