  • Good meeting place

Hachiko is standing right outside of JR Shibuya station. This is at the one of the most famous scrambleroad crossing in Japan. (You have seen this area when anybody shows Japan on American TV program) This is very small statue and do not plan to go there unless you are meeting somebody at Hachiko. (I have used Hachiko as a meeting place when I was in Japan.

  • It's a statue...

It's a statue. You walk out of the Keio or JR line exits, see it, and then leave.

It's good to see, but don't go out of your way for it. It's a pretty small statue, so it might be hard to miss. The more intresting things are is the giant Hachiko mural by the station map.

  • DO NOT MISS THIS PART OF TOKYO
    By thefvrte1, 06/09/06
Great section of the city with a cross-walk that will blow you away. 1500 pople crossing at once. Adult entertainment if you can navigate in Japanese. Kappa sushi (conveyor belt). Department stores, specialty shops and the like. One of my favorite spots. Worth a trip in and of itself.

So an owner goes off to the station with his dog and the owner never returns (so the story goes) and the dog stays and waits for him day in and day out. People take care of the dog through the years around the station...and when he dies they make a statue for the dog.

Today, if you are going to Shibuya and plan to meet friends, you always say ...
