Take a train from Asakusa up a mountain to Nikko. The small mountain town is at the entrance to Nikko National Park, which is full of shrines, temples and giant old growth tress. One of my favorite places in Japan. Get the World Heritage Pass from the Tobu railway office. It covers the train ride there and back, riding the bus around Nikko, and the entrance fee to the temples.
