You can read all of the great reviews along with mine but when i visited the castle my brother took me here. He is a Marine stationed in japan. Of all the reviews nobody has mentioned the floors. the main floors are designed to whistle to alert the shogun when someone is cumming. It's for real it is explained in the handout look at it. This was one of my favorite stops.
i really liked this place because of its beautiful architectire. it was gerat to visit in june because of its wonderful temperature and anyone who has an eye for beauty would and should go there
This was Tokugawa Ieyasu's castle and it was extremely opulent in its day. The painted artwork on the doors are simply exquisite, and the wooden carvings above the doors - some double-sided and 30cm thick - are out of this world. It's also nice to walk around the complex in the garden.
Do visit the souvenir shops at the resting area. The souvenirs are sold at a cheaper price than outside. Well, at least the woven fabrics and handkerchiefs that I bought are cheaper than outside. For example, I bought a woven fabrics at 600+yen and later I realised that other places are selling the same thing at 800+yen.
Nijo Castle is one place to seek while in Japan. The castle has tons of history to it, and a short excursion inside proves that Japan has a lot of things to show off for their history. After you endulge in the fascinating history of this castle, step outside for a nice view of a Japanese garden and many paths to choose from to get a great look of ...

A trip to Nijo-jo is a trip into the past. As you walk in threw the main gate you will notice an expansive courtyard as you head towards the castle. Once at the castle you will be asked to remove your shoes and you will be provided with slippers and allowed to enter the castle. You will have the opportunity to see some beautiful historical ...
First it is WORLD Heritage Listed! And it is so elabourate that you can FEEL the overpowering authority of the Shogun - (which is true for quite sometime in the Jap history, the Shogun is even more powerful than the emporer). The special nightingale floor is a MUST to experience. But becareful, the complex is bigger than you thought and so, do ...
I really enjoyed Nijo Castle. I had been a little apprehensive about going, since it was supposed to be rather crowded with tourists. Indeed, there were quite a few people there, but it really didn't feel all that crowded and you were by no means rushed through the sight.
You received a very informative English flyer to accompany the ...
I visited Nijyo-Jo today, but it was already closed at 4:00pm. We arrived 10min past four. I missed to enter to the castle and took this photo from outside. This castle was built in 1603 as the official residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu. We saw the casele from outside insted of enter and still enjoyed outside of it.
