The big buddha here is the star attraction, and it is certainly spectacular. Check out the details on the lotus leaves beneath the buddha.
Be sure to also visit Nigetsudo to the side on the hill. This is the place for a nice vista of Nara and well-worth the short hike. The road to the hall is lined with markers commemorating various donations from the faithful. Many of these date from pre-WW 2 when 200 or 300 Yen meant a small fortune.

It's the most crowded place in Nara.. only 37mil city. please figure out how big the acient emperor's heritage and feel the calmness of Buddha.
There will be the Annual exhibition of Shosoin treasures in Nara national museum from Oct.24th to Nov. 12th.
This is a don't miss under any circumstance type of place. Surrounded by lush green grass, a beautiful pond, and wonderful tame Deer (Shika) you will see Daibutsuden hall the worlds largest wooden structure.
