Another savory dish we sampled, beside the excelent udon, was the Kyoto-style eggplant, served smothered in a flavorful miso sauce. A delightful gastronomic surprise well worth a return trip. Not to be missed!

Visiting Gingakuji (the silver temple) during the hanami season, bringing with it the obligatory hordes of cherry blossom admiring tourists is at best a hunger inducing affair. Taking a short stroll down a path, along a typical narrow Kyoto street, one emerges on a larger street; just a stone's throw away from those same hordes now waiting ...
