This pure Balinese culture ( Bali Aga )predates Hinduism, and they have maintained a pure blood line through out hundreds of years.
The weaving is more sacred, the village layout is different, and the sculptures are pristine. Not "touristy", but organised. A "must see" when in Eastern Bali. Nearby is Pandang Bai harbor and beaches, and Candi Dasa Beaches. A good day trip all round.

This is one of the great original traditional villages (Bali Aga) i have been to. found in the Karangasem mountain area. The walled village is laid out in three parts to suit different functions: dwelling, gardening and rice farming these are set out neatly.
