It was beautiful and relatively untouched. We stayed in the Jukung Bali Bungalows which were lovely with an incredibly attentive staff. We had the beach to ourselves. All for less than $20 a night!

The coral was so alive and beautiful. For the best diving stay away from where the fisherman beach their boats, that is where the coral is dead. we found amed so peaceful and thre are numbers good small hotel but there are two our choice to stay and we do not know which one the best because they are both great , are Bluemoon villa and anda resort.
not mentioning the view and the athmosphere, the food and the accomodation all good and good value.
with new road from sanur amed seems closer, well we are will be there again this coming end jun 2007.

The water was so hot snorkling from the beach, that I suppose this is the reason the coral was mostly a brown/grey color. Maybe it was better further out.

We bailed out and headed to Permuteran Bay, and Deer Island. WOW ! The coral was alive and beautiful .

Had been recommended to go to Amed by some friends who had visited the area. What a great spot. Friendly locals, without any of the hastles of Kuta or some of the other areas of Bali.
