I've been to this place many times, but don't remember the story behind this place, reason being I've not seen any guide (touts) authourised or unauthourised explaining to tourists. Normally in places like this have at least 2 or 3 guides who explain & other passerbys can pick up some story narrated by these so called guides. All ...

I was at the Humayun's Tomb last weekend on my holidayindia. What I read only in History books is something that I saw with my own eyes. It takes you back to the Mughalera. India has so much to offer.

A must visit monument.

After Babur the entire Mogul Kingdom is buried here except Akbur and Shah Jehan and Last emperor It is built before Taj which is a copy of this monument. Best is Akber's monument and that is best maintained and clean.It is a must see place and worth a visit.

This UNESCO World Heritage monument on the eastern side of the city, is a perfect place to spend a few hours in the afternoon. The park is well maintained with funds from the Aga Khan Foundation, with lots of old trees providing shading from the sun. The tomb structure itself is very beautiful, and the mausoleum for the barber is also interesting.

Go before sunset and the warm afternoon light gives the whole place a wonderful glow.

I was surprised to see that this place appeared to be the first draft of the Taj Mahal. Everything from the layout of the gardens to the architecture itself seemed to lend itself to Shah Jahan's masterpiece. Plus, it is MUCH more accessible from Delhi, and a much nicer acclimatization to India for first-time visitors...Agra can be a little ...

An architectural forerunner of the Taj Mahal, Humayun's Tomb was built in the mid 16th century by Mughal Emperor Humayun's widow, Haji Begam, who was also buried there. Its arched entrances and bulbous dome are surrounded by lovely formal gardens, making it one of the most beautiful Mughal buildings in the city.
