  • No respect for animals
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/09
The signs say "do not feed the animals" but people feed them chocolate and anything else they happen to have and nobody was watching the animals. The cages are dirty the animals are unkept. I saw a elephant trainer hitting the elephant on top of its head numerous times for no apparent reason and laughing. The gorilla was throwing up and ...

  • Saddest tourist experience ever
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/08
It was the saddest tourist experience because the animals are terribly kept. They have huskies in tiny cages, tigers pacing showing signs of distress, pandas looking dirty and caged in glass cages....it was really depressing! I wouldn't go there again.

  • Lots of animals to see in the zoo
    By Osloy, 05/10/08
There were fantastic animals like pandas and polar animals where tourists from tropical countries need to view but there were too many visitors crowding some nice attractions.

  • The Best!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/08
I loved the animals, eventhough it was really hot, I had a great time! THE ice cream was really good in the hot weather. My favotite animals in the zoo were the Tiger, The Pandas and the Golden Lion Tamerans. This is a great place for kids. But remember! PUT ON SUNSCREEN AND WEAR A HAT!!!

  • Enough to make you cry
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/09/08
It may be the best zoo in China, the largest and have the most animals but I was saddened by it. The animals look well fed and the enclosures are of a good size but I thought the animals looked bored (swinging from side to side), the enclosures were barren (concrete, rock, sometimes dirt) and at times their coats looked mangy and patchy. There ...

  • Nice Green Space In Shangahi
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/30/07
We enjoyed the open park areas and green gardens. The outdoor animal attractions are nice, great for the kids. The real reason for enjoying the zoo is the grounds, a great green space in Shanghai.

  • Very pretty
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/07
the only complaint is that if you go when its hot out lots of the main attraction animal want to sleep inside thier cage instead of walking around looking at people. If you dont feel like walking a small shuttle will take you on a tour and make stops by all animals for only 10rmb basicaly free.

    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/20/07
many animals are not there, only empty cages.
also the opening hours are not very good.
if you want to walk around is almost impossible with all teh traffic inside the zoo.
    so never again
