  • don't linger..take your pic with mao and go!

there is definitely the wow factor associated with Mao's portrait. after you get over that creepy feeling of Mao staring down at you, the desire to clutch your bag and avoid eye contact with others prevail due to the numerous beggars and shady looking characters (pickpockets and people trying to sell you junk).

  • Check out Gardens
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/05
If you are pressed for time, or have already toured the Forbidden City, check out the gardens outside. The tulips and peonies in April are great and there are childrens rides and performers throughout the outside of the park-like gardens.

  • Just like the postcards

It's right between the Forbidden city and Tiananmen square, so you can't miss going there. Not really much to do except some great crowd watching. Oh yeah and you can take the traditional picture of someone standing below the HUGE picture of Mao.
