Restored and not overrunDuring my 2007 National Day visit, the Wall at Simatai was not at all crowded. A very pleasant trip up to the wall, a friendly local lady to follow me the whole time offering advice and commentary :)), and wonderful views. This destination easily warrants many hours' time to walk and explore.

Best place to view the Great WallI loved the fact that Simatai was not filled with tourists. The hike to the wall and up the wall was great. The sights are breathtaking and you fell inner peace. Spectacular SimataiMany visitors to Beijing go on tours to see the Great Wall at nearby Badaling. Personally, I feel this is a huge mistake. Here, the wall has been fully restored, and while amazing, is not nearly as spectacular as Simatai. It takes about 2 hours to reach the Great Wall at Simatai, but it is well worth the trip.
