Having visited Venezuela at least on 12 different occasions, i would say that an absolute must while in Caracas is to visit El Teleferico. The ride up to El Avila (the +6000ft mountain peak) gives an spectacular view of Caracas, and presents a great afternoon in the mountains which surround the valley of Caracas. There are a 2-3 good restaurants ...

I have no problems at all saying the the avila mountain is one of the greatest places on earth... Let my tell you which is the best way to enjoy it: Get to the "Avila Magica Park" walking (it takes about 7 hours) and you will enjoy the best views in the workd. Then (to protect your knees!) take the teleferico, by far one of the best in ...

A MUST!
By g_troop36, 11/12/05
Excellent cable cars take you on a beautiful ride up to the top. The views are spectacular, the temperatures range from cool to chilly! At the top, hire a jeep(inexpensive) to take you to the village of Gallipan. There you will find a great little restaurant serving delicious food (Fondues, Steaks). The view from the restaurant is beyond words!

Great day, amazing night! Good service, good restaurants, a must if you are in Caracas. Price is ok, could be cheaper, but it is clean, organized, nice, and safe.

It was fun to ride in the Teleferico. Just make sure you take a sweater or light jacket with you, as the temperature drops at the top of the Avila mountain.
