The bell tower is crazy!La Basilica is so cool...it's like walking into a different time, and the catacombs are totally crazy. I loved climbing up in the towers and haning on to gargoyles for dear life, ringing the bell...dreaming about secret tunnels to the Panecillo...it was a fantastic experience.OVERALL

Absolutely AmazingDuring my 4 months in Ecuador I have visited in a number of locations in and around Quito. La Basilica is one of the absolute must-see sites in Quito.

A Must While in QuitoThe Basilica probably offers teh best view in Quito. For a small fee (the only downside), you can climb nearly to teh top of teh spires. The stairs/ladders ascend higher in the southeastern tower where on can hang legs over the edge of teh roof and the floor in the spire is simpley wire mesh.
