I have been to the Pueblito many times. In the beginning years one could find wonderful Mapuche crafs in silver (plata), made by Mapuches theres. Last year there were very expensive shops and very refined silver jewelry. However, it had lost it's ethnic athmosphere and the work was just like the ones you can find in nice shops in santiga. Nevertheless, the Pueblito is still a wonderful place to visit when you go to Santiago.
Pueblito de Los Dominicos, is a magical place filled with art and artesans. Copper, bronze, lapiz, malachite, wood, semi precious stones, handcrafts, leather and a mixture of young and old artist welcome you into this magical place. You can buy jewels, textiles, leather goods at reasonable prices and you will always know the person who made your unique piece.

Great atmosphere, quality products
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/04/07
I absolutely loved it here. The atmosphere of the entire market is really charming, with all the trees and the rustic-looking well in the center of the market. There's also a good variety of goods here, and a good range of prices--I was on a pretty tight budget, and I was still able to find the things I was looking for, like some lapis lazuli ...

It was the most wonderful art you have ever seen. So many different styles from all over the world. Beautiful! If you do go, make sure to look at all of the art, as each piece is very different.

Great place to visit and shop for souviners if you do not have the opportunity to leave Santiago. The artisans are impressive and the items are very nice, different, and you can find something for everyone. The setting is beautiful, and the restaurant there is good too!
Go on Saturday morning and take in the famers market going on out ...

Fun for family

Our kids liked this place. There were many interesting shops, performers, etc. On price alone, the Santa Lucia market is a better value, but Los Dominicos has more than just the vendor booths to recommend it.

Good value and saves time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/06
Very close to Hyatt, where we stayed. Gives visitors a good idea of local charm and handicrafts in a very quiet, secluded environment yet offers much to shop for. I found items are a bit more expensive and was told I could have bargained a little, especially if purchasing more than one item in a shop. Overall, though a good place to go shopping and still enjoy Chilean charm without too much commercialism.

One of the neatest places in Santiago, I think
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/17/06
A neat little shopping area, definitely a good way to spend an afternoon.
As was stated, it is a bit pricey, but some of the souveniers there are absolutely priceless if you fall in love with Santiago as I did.
