Rio is a place with enormous natural beauty, it is surrounded by mountains, loads of forests, beautiful beaches, very good restaurants and bars, free music in every corner, delicious fruit juices and coconut water everywhere and above all, the people are very welcoming and helpful. I have never had the feeling that it was “us and them” ...
The view of Pao de Acucar and Lagoa from Corcovado is still the greatest view of my travels through America and Europe. I recommend going to Pao de Acucar first then see the Christ on top of Corcovado Mountain. People are nice and picture taking requires collaboration from everybody, which happens naturally.
THE FOOD SUCKS, THE PEOPLE ARE RUDE, IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO OUT @ NIGHT WITHOUT A BODYGUARD. I'VE BEEN TO A LOT OF COUNTRIES, THIS IS ONE PLACE I WOULD NOT RECOMEND TO ANYONE
Corcovado's view is just breathtaking! You can see the entire city of Rio de Janeiro from the top of Corcovado, get excellent pictures of the Sugar Loaf mountains, and get a really cool picture of the Christ that sits on top.
Even if you're not religious, this is one site you can't miss in Rio! I've been to Corcovado about three times, and each time it's as if I were seeing it for the first time all over again!

It was worth the time off the beach to see this huge statue of Jesus. Generally I agree with most of the other reviews. Here are some additional thoughts...
1. We took a bus right from copacabana (picked it up on R. Barata Ribeiro going through Ipanema around the jockey club, the lagoon, through the tunnel and up the hill. Although this might ...

It Was Ok But Could Of Been Better
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/07
i liked most thing about Rio but it was always rain and thundering i couldn't go to the Corcovado and they wouldn't give me my money but back and i spent over $900 i am very sad but it was a great trip and it wasn't all my money it was my cab drivers money
U must go there the first day: U can see all you're going to visit the next days. The best hour to go it's in the morning. There's a lot of people up there in the evening! Now there's some mechanical stairs, so anyone can reach te top. Dislikes? Just when it's cloudy :(

Absolutely Beautiful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/03/07
I have to say this is a must see for anyone going to Rio. Unfortunately, when my wife and I went, it happened to be raining with very low clouds, so the view was not as good as normal, but it still was an awesome experience...
Even the train ride up through the rain forrest is neat!
We can't wait to go back and do this again on a day that isn't raining, the view is truly amazing!!!
