must have had a bad day, or piles ...Our experience ...Nov 2008 admittedly ...was first class , lovely setting , good food , relaxed staff ...whats to complain about .. Indeed I have just recommended to some friends who are visiting NZ soon , so I wouldnt do so unless I was confident of the place.
This is a restuarant set in an old castle at the top of the hill over looking Christchurch and the plains with roaring fires and an ambiance unparalelled anywhere we have been. I heard it was under new management and that they have gone to large style meals. I was not let down, I had the 1.2kg shoulder of lamb and it was MASSIVE not to mention ...
christchurch is a beautiful place. ive come from melbourne and decided to stay for good in Christchurch and raise my 3 kids here...i havnt been to this restaurant yet, but i wouldnt take the advice of one disgruntled customer.
they charged $28 for six bottles of water, they we did not order and their general rude attitude offended many of our elderly guests.I would not recomend going or ever even visiting this restraunt. If u have any sense at all never even come to Christchurch. Thank you

this is a gorgeous old english manor house style building, with a lovely restaurant inside. Mostly local New Zealand food and wine, the beef fillet is excellent. Service is friendly, and we had a great evening. Recommended.
