It's well worth the steep climb; absolutely breathtaking at the top. Views over Whatipu and South Head on one side and the whole of Auckland City on the other. Best spot to watch the sunset (over Whatipu) and moon rising (over the city), all in the one place. Every time I've been there, I've had the place to myself. It's very quiet and incredibly peaceful. Can get quite windy and cold so bring a jacket!
