We loved the market! There was a huge variety of items. The prices on souvenirs were excellently priced. We loaded up. We spent hours just combing through everything. It was neat and clean.

a must to go if you're first timers
By daniel oon, 07/16/07
Visited many times during 1986 till 1990 and back again in winter 2004 with 2 couples and my wife. For first timers, it's a die-die must visit place. An icon to proud Melbournites. Must allocate at least 4 hours to cover the whole place, it's humongously large. Get to see a racial harmony with diverse nationalities from Russia, China, ...

I'm 25 years old, i used to go when i was a child. I enjoyed going their then but not anymore. The shops are still the same, it seems like their selling the same clothes as they were 10 years ago. Unless you like people knocking into you and loud places then this place ain't for you or me!!

By Adrian, 05/28/06
It was an eye-opener for me. So many stalls with so many different types of goods all at one location. Lots of souvenirs (e.g. t-shirts, soft toys, flags, etc.) to choose from. I remember one stall where they custom-make caps and tags on the spot. It was interesting to see how the machine sews your name on the cap. I wil always remember the ...

An atmosphere unlike what we have in the US
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/05
I went there 10 years ago. I found the whole place amazing to walk around and just take in. The noise, the sites, the smells. Vegetarians beware, there are lots of carcasses on display in the butcher shops. It was a great place to pick up some souvenirs (a dijeradoo and sweatshirts) at a reasonable price compared to tourist shops.
