    The chocolate souffle is to die for...we are 2 Canadians taking a break from the ice and snow and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We would recommend Donovan's to any friends who were visiting Melbourne area.

  • My Favorite Place in Melbourne

    I visit Melbourne for business every couple of months from the USA. My collegues and I have made it a tradition to eat at Donovan's at least once while we are in Melbourne. We love to have a late lunch/early dinner, sit by the fireplace or outside by the beach to kill time before the jet lag kicks in! I travel extensively around the world and have to say this has to be my favorite restaurant by far...

  • Outstanding Food and Service

    We had an early Saturday lunch at Donovans before it became busy. The service was as outstanding as our food and wine. The view out to the water and the quiet, comfortable surroundings added to the enjoyment of our meal.

  • Grossly overrated

    It's unquestionably an attractive restaurant, but the food was less than mediocre. Meatless, overcooked prawns were the low point of the experience. My wife's fish had to have been dead for ages, replete with more bones than a British Museum exhibit of ancient water life. I think the pretension level here is way too high, and if Mr. Donovan ...
