I have consistently read about the flourishing elk herd in the Hoh. Although I have never been far into the Hoh because of my kids at the time, the whole area is singular in its beauty. Rain forests have a verdant smell and feeling. Check out the Olympic range from Queen Anne Hill in Seattle sometime.
I loved Olympic National Park in so many different ways. I am from Washington and every year we have a family reunion over by the Olympic National Park. So me and my cousin decided to take a tour around the park. When we did it was amazing. Nature surrounded us and I felt peace. There is so much sight seeing as well if you know where to look. Plus we found some trails that lead us to this glorious water fall. It was amazing.
Hurricane ridge was great. Awesome road up to the top if you have a fun car or motorcycle. $15 pass gets you in the park for a week. The views were very good and it still had quite a bit of snow up at the top. However their dog policy is very unwelcoming. You can only have dogs anywhere your car can go. Not on any trails, and ALWAYS on leach. Their ...

Washington State Native!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/04/08
Stayed overnight in cabin in Rainforest in the 1960's -- "roughed it" and enjoyed every minute -- hanging moss / great hiking trails. Look at the Olympics from my home near Seattle and am so lucky to be able to do so!!
Olympic National Park is one of the world's scenic wonders that no one should miss. The Hoh Rainforest is beautiful, and the park rangers do an awesome job on the nature walk. The "Hall of Mosses" was incredible! Just wish we'd had more time to stay in such a wonderful place....
Everyone should visit Washington state and especially the O.P. There is nothing like it anywhere and unfortunately it probably won't be around in 100 years due to environmental abuse and global warming.
Places you must visit: Hoh Rainforest (Hall of Mosses Trail) Cape Flattery (parking permit is NOT necessary even though the local people tell you differently) Hurricane Ridge La Push (2nd Beach) Poulsbo
Places you don't need to go: Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge (5-mile spit w/ no wide life at all) Lake Crescent (not ...

3 ecosystems in one

This was a beautiful place! My boyfriend and I camped 4 nights at the park. The first night, we camped at the beach, and the other three nights we stayed in the forests. There are some cute inns, but the camping experience is the way to go! There is so much to do and see (the beautiful lakes, the rainforest, the waterfalls, the mountains, the ...

Mt. Olympus kicks Ranier's Butt!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/05
Whereas Mount Ranier is crawling with tourists as soon as the road's are clear, the Olympic National Park is farther from the big cities and therefore more pristine than Ranier. They Olympics offer a greater variety of climates from rain forest to beach to alpine. I've been to Mt. Ranier a few times, but I return to the Olympics every year. Take it from a native, if you only have time for one excursion, make it the Olympics.
