As a local, I've visited the Seattle Aquarium about 3 or 4 times. It's not special, and the exhibits are certainly not impressive, but it is nonetheless a good experience if you just wish to see and learn about a few of the inhabitants of Puget Sound. If not for the seals and otters, the touch pools, and the (crowded) underwater dome, a ...

People from Seattle are full of it.
By NYCinCAandnowinWA, 03/29/09
I just moved here from the Bay Area and after seeing other aquariums I would rather have tourists save their cash for real aquariums.
People from Seattle obviously do not have a clue about what a real aquarium has to offer...Monterey Bay Aquarium is worth every penny this aquarium left me disappointed. If it had been half price and I would have ...

Visited in August 2008
By William, 08/02/08
I brought eight-year-old boys and had a great time. I do wish they offered more information about the exhibits in the wall text--in fact the place seems far less scientific than the Monterey Aquarium--but we met two staff members on the ground floor who spent more than 15 minutes each with me and my kids educating us on sea stars and sea anemones. They were wonderful and we all learned a great deal. Also the cafe has great views.
There were a lot of unique features that would bedazzle young children, but as an adult touring without kids, the aquarium didn't have too much to offer. Some insight into local birds and sea animals, but nothing spectacular to speak of.

What were you expecting????
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/08
Seriously? To all those disgruntled reviewers, what the heck were you expecting?
Sea Lion Shows? Rides on Orcas? Dolphins leaping?
If you are looking for that kind of entertainment, go to those big, hyped aquariums where the visitors look like they belong in the tanks rather than on the visitor's side.
My wife and I spent nearly two ...

IT'S A SHAME FOR THIS CITY
By iacobescu j, 04/27/08
that aquarium was impossible FOR VISITING. Free to be, i swear i won't come back there anymore. I think that the aquarium's staff do not have common sense to take so much money for nothing.

Not worth it!
By Des, 03/15/08
I last went there years ago in school. After returning as an adult I realized how small this place really is. Taking my time to go through each area, it still took less than an hour.
I am not sure if Saturday's are kids day, but the place was overrun with little ones. So much so, it became very difficult to handle all the screaming. For the ...

Very small and very expensive!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/07
I grew up in Seattle and was excited about returning to the Seattle Aquarium. It was a huge disappointment. First, parking is horrendous and expensive. Second, the aquarium was remodeled and is much smaller due to all the excess "atmosphere" they added. The windows were small and the areas were enclosed. Not for the claustrophic! We ...

By Marguerite C, 11/23/06
We went when they were rentovating so maybe it's much better now. It was a ok place it just seems kind of crowded. We did enjoy watching the otters.
