I did the tour of Shirley Plantation and found out a lot of information. When asked questions staff answered them and added bits of other interesting facts. I felt tour was too quick to see all the interesting objects on display and would have liked more time to look. Will come back for more.

The staff at Shirley Plantation are rude and unpleasant. They have a "No Refund Under Any Circumstances " Policy. We visited on a Sunday afternoon intending to tour the house. After purchasing our tickets and waiting 20 minutes for our tour to start, a tour bus and van full of college students showed up and they were allowed to tour ...
They charge 11$ for a 25 minute tour of the first floor of a home. About all this encompasses is some stories about the paintings on the walls. There aren't even any slave quarters there either as they were all destroyed in the 1900's. For the price it really is ridiculous...
