The Byrd is in Carytown, an area of boutique and alternative/ vintage shops and small restaurants and is the closest thing Richmond has to an "Arts District". The theater works well in its neighborhood, especially the Saturday Midnight Movies that tend to be cult classics (Rocky Horror Picture Show, Goonies) and, because it is just about ...

They don't have the organ show other days of the week. This is a gem in the city of Richmond, older folk as myself can truly appreciate the turn of last century decor, the monstrous chandeleer and the detail on the walls and balconies. Brings back old memories.

The Byrd runs movies a few weeks from when they left mainstream theaters. There's always a large crowd for the Byrd - it's a lot of fun.
The picture in this listing is seriously out-of-date. The front looks a lot better!
