  • On the path to Texas freedom

The Alamo is wonderful. It is a beautiful place that takes me back about 170 years. I remind my children the story of the struggle and tell them to remember to be repsectfully quiet while in the shrine. Too bad that the very thing that brings tourists to San Antonio is responsible for the Alamo having lost for much land to the sideshows and hotels. ...

  • Remember the Alamo!!!
    By SCORPION-POET, 05/13/06
Want to go to a place where thousands of people died in a suicidal battle??? Then the alamo is for you!! Adding to the interest are the historical figures who fought in the David vs Goliath but Goliath wins battle. Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone and the inventor of chewig gum the crossdesser Santa Anna. There are still some walls and still the mission ...

  • We were kind of disappointed
    By Monica L, 03/30/06
We were disappointed that there werent more artifacts at the location. We have always wanted to visit the Alamo and we thought that there would be more artifacts at the location than the few that were there. The grounds are lovely and well maintained and it is gorgeous to look at but we expected more on the historical side.

  • History
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/06
Some of you people writing unfavorable reviews on the Alamo must have no sense of history. Come on! "Very touristy", "Suroundings not great." Oh, and "Anglo ignorance"- nice one. What kind of crap is that? 1) Of course it's touristy-it's the ALAMO for crying out loud 2)where did you think the Alamo would ...

  • Smaller than you would think
    By Debbie A, 03/15/06
The fort is much smaller than you would imagine, which in my opinion makes what happened there even more impressive. The historical value of the battle that took place there is larger than life. To take your kids (especially if their Texans) there makes a lasting impression, that they will never get from books. I grew up in San Antonio and heard ...

  • Makes you think
    By James, 03/02/06
There are two main reasons to visit San Antonio. One, Riverwalk, and the second, The Alamo.

The Alamo really lets you see what these people went through, and what they had to defend the fort.

And to walk into the main building, and learning about more of the history, really makes it sink in. The children, and women, caught in the side ...

  • "Remember the Alamo"
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/08/06
What I loved about the Alamo was that it is so great how a historic building can still be standing and that men loved our country to fight for it and sacrifice thier own life. When i first went to the Alamo, i expected I huge building, surrounded by nothing, but when i visited the Alamo, i found that it was quite little in size, but filled with ...
