I remembered visiting the Sunken Gardens years ago on family vacations when it was lushly vegetated with lily pads and flowers and stocked with fish. My memory of it was like a Monet painting. I was disappointed to see that the lily pads and fish were gone with the vegetation focused only along the main pathway. The large barren stretches of pond ...

Sad Condition
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/08
The place is in deplorable condition as of July 2008. There were no benches or tables to sit down on and relax. There were weeds on the paths/walkways and graffiti on an old historic tower (from when it was an active quarry years ago). The ponds appear to be in need of cleaning. The fish in them were few. Those there seemed to be possibly ...

Glad the Tea Garden has made a comeback!
By Carmen R, 06/30/08
I liked that on my recent weekend visit, I saw not only coy fish growing inches bigger. I love the carefully placed potted lily pad plants. As I strolled along making my way over to the waterfall, I was so excited about the hearty plants. The colors flow through the garden with ease. My favorite if I must pick, would be the all over hearty and full ...

It Brought tears to my eyes.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/08
Upon arriving at the top of the walkway I started crying, it was beautiful again. I had memories as a child visiting the gardens and then as a teen when it was in dissarray. Everyone should experience the beauty of this garden. I can't wait to bring others to see it.

The Japanese Tea Garden has reopened
By mjenkoji, 03/12/08
Whatever you do don't miss visiting the Japanese Tea Garden in Brackenridge Park! It was once one of the most popular tourist sites in San Antonio (second only to the Alamo). Now newly renovated, the city, San Antonio Parks Foundation and many, many volunteers have replanted the garden with beautiful koi in the ponds and the lily pads will be coming in soon.
It is a beautiful, unique place to visit that is well worth seeing.

Breath-taking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/07
The first thing that comes to mind when you see the beautiful scenery is to take a long breath, sigh. You feel relaxed and when there's wind...you just want to close your eyes and feel the breeze..but you can't keep them close because you want to keep observing every detail of the garden. Beautiful place. I live here in San Antonio and I don't get tired of it!
