I haved lived in the Houston area fro 3 yrs and decided to finally go to the zoo. It was really great. There is lots of shade so the heat isn't as bad. I enjoyed it and will definitely go again. Just a tip, you can bring drinks in so if you are on a tight budget I suggest bringing your own drink. I brought icees for my kids for $2.50 for an 10 oz cup.

The zoo is really big and laid out nicely, however we went during spring break and trying to get through the herd of strollers was a real obstacle. It would have been a better experience if other people could control their children. Every time I turned around kids were yelling, growling, and banging on the animals cages. One kid even threw a huge ...
i've been twice and i loved it both times. my kids had alot of fun going in and out of tubes where the piranah's were and up and down in the prarie dog bubbles! we got rained on in the end but the experience was priceless! we'll be going back again on our next trip to the houston area
I'm an animal lover so I've been to many zoos and I'd have to say the Houston Zoo rates up towards the top. It's not the biggest zoo but it was till tons of fun (plus if you have little ones they will never make it through a big zoo) There is a lot of interaction between the guests and zoo keepers so you find out a lot of ...
I LOVE THIS ZOO WHEN I LIVED IN HOUSTON I WOULD GO TWICE A YEAR .NOW THAT I LIVE IN THE VALLEY I GO ABOUT FOUR TIMES A YEAR.IT'S KOOLMY KIDS LOVE IT, MY SON WITH AUTISM LOVES IT THE MOST.
We came for 4th of July but knew it would be crowded that day, so we went on Saturday, it was still crowded but the flow of people was great and different paths available never made you follow like a herd of cattle. Lot of animals to see and great kids area, my 3 yr. old loved. It will be back again.
I went to the zoo on memorial day while it was free and it was like being in a pig pen i hated it and didn't bother to see the rest of the zoo. There was no one there to answer your questions. The signs didn't make much sense. Half of the animals were either sleeping, hiding , or not showing there face.
When I visited many of the animals were not in their cages. The clerical employees complained they had had resumes on a computer website and had been Shanghai'd into service, had been assigned to condos, and did not get paid. They had to go on welfare to get the money for gas to get to work and were "not allowed" to get snacks at the snack bar.
Later they had an ad in the Houston Chronicle for the zoo jobs.
Other reviews posted didn't give this zoo much credit. But the most recent post was last year so here's a new one! It was our 1st time there & we went in 95 degree heat. There are several cooling fans thru out the zoo (the kind that mist you w/cool air & water) to keep cool. There is plenty to see. Our kids enjoyed the ...
The Houston zoo has one of the best Children's zoos I've ever seen. My son can spend the entire day in there!!! He's 4 years old. I grew up in Houston when the zoo was free to get in and just a nasty ghetto. I now live out of town but visit the zoo everytime we come to Houston!!! The changes they have made are wonderful. It is a ...
