I was very pleasantly surprised to find such a high quality arts space in the middle of the "Hood" on my visit to Dallas last year. This center will surprise you with art from nationally prominent artists (while I was there I saw a show with Romare Bearden's work along with Elizabeth Catlett's!). I highly recommend it if you're visiting Dallas and are interested in African American culture.
