Was definitely worth the visit

Not a LBJ fan but it did give some good insight into what he was thinking during his tenure in the 60's. It was a short visit but if you live in the area then it is worth the gas.
Free admission, free parking, and air conditioning are definitely all perks. When you are done visiting there take the 3 block stroll past the UT stadium and check out their two water fountains.
LBJ would be proud. This place can't be judged against libraries of Bush and Clinton. LBJ was one of the last Presidents of the pre-internet era. Everything he did, he did on paper, by hand....you've got to delve into those red boxes lined up on shelves 2 stories high to get to the good stuff. AND, his library is the ONLY presidential ...

Wonderful Museum

Really enjoyed the synthesis of interesting times with a fascinating life and presidency.
The atmosphere is fantastic with a beautiful space for displaying presidential memorabilia.
What I perhaps liked the most was all of the personal correspondence, both among politicians but mostly between LBJ and Lady Bird. A great way to spend an afternoon.

Could be better

For such a great man, his library deserves to be better. Was by far the least memorable of the five presidential libraries I visited recently (Truman, Ike, LBJ, Bush & Clinton). Needs to be updated & modernized (as Truman's was recently). Even Ike's library, which is getting a bit dated, is superior. One realy needs to visit the ...

Okay

The Lyndon B. Johnson Library was okay, and it was my first time being in a presidential library. At first it would be a regular library filled with books in honor of the president, but it really wasn't. lol. Anyways, it shows exhibits showing the life, and times of Lyndon. There a lot of priceless items that were gifts to him from other countries from all corners of the globe. There's stuff you don't get to see everyday.

LBJ would be proud

They have an extensive collection of Presidential artifacts. The highlight is a talking lifelike replica of President Johnson sharing insight of himself and his Texas hill country wit. Best of all, there is no fee for parking or entry fee to the library itself. Plan to spend a half day to do it justice.

Not so impressive Presidential Library
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/06/04
For Texas size standards it is not a very impresive Library. There are better things to do in Austin. The good side is that admission is free and is open all year round.
