What a fun place and great food. Thought all Tex-Mex food was alike but this was better!! Got there about 5:30 on a Wed and had no wait but by the time we left it was packed. Don't miss this one.

Nacho Bar

How can you not like a place that has a free nacho bar during happy hour. Not just chips and salsa, but queso, beans, ground beef and the jalapeno ranch is to die for. My friend was in grad school at UT and we had to eat there, nothing but rave reviews from me. Anytime I am in Austin I will stop by!

An Austin Must
By The Amish One, 09/12/07
Eating at Chuy's is a must-do for a well-rounded Austin experience. The ambiance is quintessential Austin. That being said, the food never quite lives up to the expectation for me. Plus, there is *always* a long wait, at any location, any time of day. The waitstaff is usually good but spread a little thin. Be sure and request the white dip along with the salsa.

Quintessential Tex-Mex
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/07/07
It just doesn't get any better than Chuy's Tex-Mex. Food is always excellent. I have never had a bad meal there. Their fresh salsa cannot be topped. Their service is about as good as you can get. The only negative thing you can say is there is typically a wait during peak hours but you can't blame them for being crowded with so much good food and service!

Must visit while in Austin
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/07
The original Chuys (on Barton Springs) is the best! The nutty decor will keep you entertained. Food is good Tex-Mex. I almost always opt for one of the very large burritos, which are served with your choice of sauce (pick one of the 4 or 5 offered).
Parking can be a problem, but the food makes it worth the walk.

Can't wait to go again!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/07
I was never a mexican or Tex-Mex lover unless it was a Taco Bell. Then about a two months ago, I went to Texas for the first time and was told to try Chuy's. My husband and I got the Fajitas for two and I had a Texas Martini. Since then, we have been to Texas twice and our first stop was Chuy's!!! It was phenominal!!! I have not eatin Taco ...

A Must Eat At Place In Austin
By DN, 11/27/06
My boyfriend and I had a very great meal. Food was out of this world! Expect to wait but, is well worth the wait in my opinion. The service was very good once we were seated. We are still talking about the enchiladas a month later...mmm delicious!

overrated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/06
Okay, but always too crowded, prices a little high, food just average. Too touristy now. Used to be good, but like many such places, success becomes its downfall.
