  • Lots of fun for the whole family
    By Kami, 04/06/06
Very nice Zoo. Great habitats. It is under ALOT of construction with new exhibits happening alot in the next year according to all the signs. Compared to my last trip there in Nov 2004, it was great. The elephant exhibit is done and is very cool with several different places to see from. Some being closer to the elephants than others. The habitats ...

  • Not what I expected
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/07
This zoo is spread out, but has very few large animals. There are no apes, gorillas, rhinos, lions, polar bears, bears, etc.

Very few animals and large in price. With a discount and a family of 4, I still spent $70, without eating there.

The zoos in Fort Worth and Dallas were much better.

  • Nice zoo, but not fantastic
    By Lady Bug Pink, 03/22/07
Really like that the animals have SO much room - but be prepared to do a LOT of walking. My favorite part of this zoo is Grassmere itself. Make sure you tour the home and grounds around it. Very beautiful in the Fall.

  • great little zoo
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/06
This zoo is not the biggest one in the world, but it is growing and improving. The thing that separates the nashville zoo from others is that the animals are happy. they are not in cages, they are housed in natural looking exhibits. They have elephants, red pandas, clouded lepards, cougars, and much more. They are growing faster than any zoo I have ever ...

  • Noise Level
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/06
The zoo habitat and animals are great.I know
that noise is expected and children do get
excited, but the useless screaming is hardly
needed to enjoy yourself. Very little parental supervision

  • for younger children only
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/06
my preschooler enjoyed the visit. my 8 and 10 year boys were somewhat let down from all the very positive hype told to them by their g-parents. the original was more in my opinion.

  • WE SAW LITTLE AND WALKED ALOT
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/06
WE DID MORE WALKING AND LESS OF SEEING THE ANIMALS. IF YOU DO DECIDED TO TAKE YOUR STROLLER YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE IT IN SOME OF THE EXHIBITS(MY FEAR WAS TO LEAVE THE STROLLER TO GO SEE THE EXHIBIT AND SOMEONE STEAL OUR STROLLER). THERE WAS ALOT OF CONSTRUCTION GOING ON WHILE WE WERE THERE. BRING YOUR OWN WATER AND FOOD- WAY TO EXPENSIVE TO BUY THESE THINGS INSIDE THE ZOO!!! IT WAS NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR THE TIME!!!

  • Nice Zoo
    By captkiddmom, 09/13/05
The Zoon is a nice one, but comparing to the original Nashville Zoo - there is no comparison. Grassmere just doesn't have alot of charm. Regardless, my younger kids really enjoyed the experience and we are glad there is a zoo in Nashville. If you're visiting the zoo just because you're in Nashville, you might want to think twice about it.

I loved this zoo. The animals were well cared for and the park was clean. We took our own lunch and had a picnic. The playground was AMAZING and my two year old loved the carousel. We will go again if we are ever in Nashville

  • Wear walking shoes!!!
    By toodles, 04/23/08
I loved how there were things for people of all ages. Just be prepared to wear walking shoes. They really isnt an easy way to get to each spot without walking and sometimes walking up a hill. In the summertime bring lots of water, especially for little ones, there isnt much shade. There is a house on the grounds is the origonal owners of the ...
