We loved being able to rent bikes at $5 each for the whole day! lots of picnic areas and open space. the staff at the visitor center was very friendly. fun to go off the paved trail and explore on the dirt trails througout the park.
Stones River National Battlefield is a sizable national park about 30 minutes south of Nashville. If you are in the area, it is worth the visit. The visitor's center here has much interesting reading about the western theatre of the Civil War conflict. The battlefield lets you appreciate what soldiers went through and is easily tourable in a day.
