I have been going to this park a few times a year all my life! it is an awesome place to be! I cannot believe some of the negative remarks here about this great park! like being upset over how fish were treated on the pier! is that a joke or what??? well I can not find one bad thing to say about this park except maybe the pier could be a little longer

Bad things going on at Pier

The pier is not for "ladies" or children. Foul language from locals and one guy was catching baby shark and smashing their skulls and throwing them back in. Really rough. Got home and the next day had a flat tire. Think I got it there in the camp ground. Had nightmares about the place and how the fish were treated.
Just returned from 7 nights at Myrtle Beach State Park and we loved it! A couple minute walk from our campsite to the beach, which was awesome. The beach was very clean. I felt the bath houses were above-par for a state park (at least the ones we've stayed at). Campsites were smaller than we are used to, but we expected that and it was ...
Unfortunately 3 of the 5 cabins where broke into during our stay in May 2009 windows old due to age off cabin easy assess for break in, our cabin alone they took 2 cameras & cash approximately $700.00 Furniture old, thank goodness we had air mattress to use since sofa bed was worn out, over sized chair took up a lot of room, small appliances and pots & pans need replaced as well.

Don't go on the 4th of July. We went last year to camp and you had to sit in traffic to enter the park for over an hour. The park was packed and loud with no where to park or picnic. It was terrible. We will never camp or go any where near the park during the 4th of July again.

Our Home away from Home...........
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/08
We love this park. My husband and I spent our honeymoon, 27 years ago there. We, over the years took our children there for vacations and camped, some years in tents, one year in the cabins and some in an R.V.,. Only once did we stay in one of the many Hotels on the strip........we were so miserable, we spent several days paying to be at Myrtle ...
As a lifelong northeast Tn resident, I've been to Myrtle Beach quite a few times, but never knew this park existed. My daughter and I tent-camped there 2 nights on a relatively spur-of-the-moment trip, and we were very impressed. The park is clean and well-kept, the beach is much less crowded than the more commercial areas closer to the ...
I am shocked that there are so many positive reviews of this place! I guess in comparison to the other beach areas in Myrtle Beach, the state park is nice, but compared to other beaches just an hour or so north or south of Myrtle Beach, it is awful!! The airport's flight path flies directly over the park and disrupts any chance at a relaxing ...
Filthy facilities!!!!!!!!! Beach was beautiful and less crowded but, the filth and the noise was not worth it!!!! I guess we get what we paid for... left early!
I just got back from Myrtle Beach, and I spent almost an entire day here. I really loved that it was less crowded, easily accessible, and more "wild nature" than the beaches further down. The pier was great, the dunes were great, the facilities were clean, and re-entry is free all day once you pay. I will definitely return to this park!
