do not go on the carriage tour! they do not take of the horses. its way too hot outside, they dont give them breaks or water and dont spray them down. they feed them the cheapest food. the horses were just dragging, it was really sad. i think the purpose is great with a lot of great information but i know they are making great money and need to take care of the horses.

There is so much history in Charleston. You can walk around, but the tid bits on knowlege passed on by the friendly horse riders makes it so much more enjoyable.

I live in the Charleston area and have taken out of town guests on MANY carriage rides through town over the past few years. If you are somewhat pressed for time and don't have a few days this is a great way to see the area. Strongly recommend taking the carriage tour, and you can ask questions during the tour.

This was a great tour! We were with another couple and we drew the #1 route which hit the waterfront along with the historic homes and sites. We all agreed that our guide was fantastic - full of information and humor that was genuine, not canned and the horse (Hero) was amazing. I can't imagine a tour through any part of this beautiful city being anything other than satisfying with people like this to escort you.
