  • Our favorite place to go in Charleston.
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 09/24/07
We love this restaurant. We - meaning our family and all our friends.

You have to love the stories about Poogan and the ghost stories which abound here but mostly it's about the food. The huge biscuits are to die for! The seafood is wonderful and the old home which contains all the quaint little rooms is so great. The parking garage across the street is a plus also.

  • Miss Rude
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 09/03/07
We came to Charleston for our 41st anniversary. We made reservations for 5. We got there 20 minutes early. A young man said we could wait in the bar till 5. Miss Rude jumped from the corner and basically told us to leave and return after 5.
She was extremely rude. We never came back. There loss.

  • Charming place, plus the biscuits are fantastic
    By John R, 08/23/07
Had lunch at Poogan's recently and enjoyed it very much. The best part may have been the biscuits served before the meal. (They serve biscuits in a basket instead of bread.) Boy they were tasty! The service was attentive and asked us if we wanted more biscuits, which of course we did. The main courses we were good too -- Low Country Pasta, ...

  • Glad we went but won't go back
    By elljae, 08/04/07
We were very excited about going to Poogan's Porch after having heard so many wonderful recomendations. It was fun, we enjoyed being in a place with a ghost history, and the story of Poogan the dog is just wonderful. However, that is all we can say good about our experience there. We were seated in a dining room in the back which was ...

This authentic historic Charleston resteraunt was the days treat.
The food was excellent, original and filling.
The story of "Poogan" is a one-of-a-kind southern pooch tale.

Please stop by, enjoy a drink, and some wonderful food.

  • Great food at 70's prices!
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 05/25/07
New to Charleston, moving here recently from Ohio, I heard from co-workers that one week in Febuary Poogans Porch rolls back prices to the 1976 menu. Sounded good to me and it was. Myself, wife, and daughter were seated in the 1st floor dinning area with a very attentive server. We throughly enjoyed our meal and the total was very resonable. I ...

  • Poltergeists in the Kitchen
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 03/26/07
After reading a positive review in Frommer's guide to Charleston, my wife and I had dinner here. We were seated in a large dining room in which the background music was too loud and inappropriate for a quiet dinner with conversation. The wait staff was very inattentive. Bread was not brought to the table until 10 to 15 minutes after we ...

  • impressed the yankee inlaws
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 02/17/07
I have been to Poogan's on several occasions and I believed this would be the perfect place to impress my yankee inlaws. They really needed to have exposure to the best southern food and ambiance possible and Poogan's did not let me down. The best wines and food were all there. Thank you so very much for always being the best. A very ...

  • A pregnant woman's dream
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 12/23/06
My husband and I visited Charleston for our 7th anniversary in March of 2006. I was 7 months pregnant with our 3rd child. The first night we went to Poogan's Porch I really wasn't looking forward to it, but after that first dinner I wanted to go back and we did the night before we left. I still crave the food to this day!!!

  • Baby it's cold outside....
    By Lindler Log, 11/05/06
We were seated next to one of two fireplaces in the dining room. It was very romantic not to mention warm.

The wait staff was pleasant and the food was good. A little on the pricey side for the amount of food you recieved but well worth it due to the atmosphere.

Would love to go back during the warmer months just to feel the dog brush up against your legs!!
