The Philly Zoo is the oldest zoo in the US. They have extremely limited space, yet they are constantly updating and modernizing to make the best use of it. It makes for a fun day, with or without the kids. At 17.95 per person, it is much less expensive than many zoos, and I highly recommend becoming a member. A single membership (which allows 2 ...

Horrible for animals, great for people
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/09
It was a great place to see animals up close and suffering. Unfortunately, I like to see wild animals acting like wild animals, not like stuffed animals in a plastic display case.
First of all just getting there is a headache. Traffic is unbelievable and parking takes forever. Then it is $12 to park and $18 a head to get in.
The zoo was just a total disappointment. I thought it would have gotten better from when I was last there a few years ago but it did not. It got worse. Many of the exhibits were empty. Others ...
The Zoo is very small and there are very few animals. The carousel and train rides are not definitely worth for 3$. Train ride is shame! You may not need more than 3 - 4 hrs see all the animals. Also, the food served in the Zoo is not that good. I waited for more than 40 mts in the queue on a crowdless day to get one french fries. Don't think it's worth it. Disappointing!

A special day at the Philadelphia Zoo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/31/08
We spent a special family day at the Zoo, It was my 5 year old grandsons first time and a very long time for my son who is now on his way to kuiat. They both were just in aw and it did my heart good to see this. The Philadelphia Zoo now holds a very special place in our hearts.
This place was awesome. My son loved the open enclosures which allowed him to sit and lean over just enough to promote "I can touch it Mommy!" thoughts. We were a little shocked about the prices of the pony/horse rides ($5) which last all about 2 minutes that you had to share with another rider. All and all it was a clean spacious zoo and ...

AMAZING
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/08
Basically, the greatest thing ive done all summer, and im 17 so that means something. I highly recommend visiting the zoo, so many cute little critters to see and some big boys like the gorilla and rhino, etc. Worked out really well as a date with my girlfriend and its fun as long as you like animals to some degree. Only bad thing i have to say is ...
I have lived my entire life in the Philadelphia area. Ever since I was a child, I have loved the Philadelphia zoo. It is always nice to return and see both the old and the new mixed together. Today was a rather sad visit. The zoo has been going through a transition for many years. The goal seems to be more natural environments for the animals. ...

Big City, Small Zoo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/07
Visited this zoo from out of town and figured a big city like Philadelphia would have a big zoo, but was way wrong. Paid $12.95 a person plus $10 to a park in a lot 2 blocks from the actual zoo as there is very limited parking near the zoo entrance. Animal exhibits seemed small, cramped, and out dated. The children's area was nice and had ...
