when i first went there to se the memorial i was sad but relieved i really liked the way they did this to remember all that was saceficed that horrible day i live in NY so i know what it is like to live throught something like that maybe something like that should b done in NY for all the people that perished that day to remember always what we hold dear to our hearts
The memorial was very moving, the only problem is finding parking if you are not familiar with the area...don't park at the meters infront of the museum because they are only 2 hour, and it takes at least 3 to look at everything without feeling rushed.
If you are in OKC for business or pleasure, I highly recommend a visit to the memorial. It is a beautiful and yet chilling reminder of this terrible time in our history. If you like to take pictures, I recommend both a day and night visit as both offer unique picture opportunities. If you arrive fifteen min before the museum opens or in the evening, you can park on the street, right in front of the monument.
I had put off all these years from going to the Memorial. When the bombing took place, I was active in EMS in Tulsa. We had gathered crews, Doctors and Nurses, and were going to ferry them there by Helicopter. Then the word came in....no more survivors were expected, it had become a recovery crime scene. What a blow! We went this year, ...
i am from okc and i love every bit of the memorial. its a place to go and refelct on your life. well thats what i do. i still remember that day as if it was yesturday. may god bless every one.
Absolutely Beautiful and peaceful!! We found that saturday morning was a quiet and peaceful time for us. We parked about a block away along the street where it is metered but free on saturdays. Got to see two beautiful stainglass churches on two corners south of the memorial. The rangers where very helpful and ready to tell you about parts of the memorial. Don't forget to check out the museum north of the main area of the memorial.
I like the Memorial Museum because it shows you how people were affected on April 19th 1995. when i went to see the memorial i thought How can two men do something like this? taking the lives of innocent people and children in the daycare center on the second floor of the building.
I think that the memorial gives you an overlook of how people were affected by the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building
Like the people of Oklahoma, this place was memorable. I was there when the fences were still up surrounding the original site. The posters were still tied to the fence, dolls, stuffed toys and flowers were laying around, it was very moving. The empty chairs, the wall with the names and the statue were the only thing completed at the time, but it ...
