Even though the cave was closed decades ago, this is still a worthwhile endeavor.
Be prepared to get wet. The provided slickers don't help much, but I would go even without any protection.
You get to experience the bridal veil portion up close and personal. You can reach out and touch the falls and if you feel brave, the Hurricane Deck is a *must do*.
The sandals are worth the price of admission alone!

Not what I expected but Great just the same
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/06
The only part that really is in a cave is the ride down on the elevator, but this trip was definately worth it. You get to go to the bottom of the falls and see how much power there is to this water. Beautiful walk to the bottom of the falls.
You will get wet on this tour, but it is worth it.

Experience the awesome power of the falls
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/06
Descend 175 feet in an elevator, go through a tunnel, and walk on a series of decks and bridges along the base for a spectacular upward view of the American and Bridal Veil Falls. To experience the awesome power of the falls, go up to the Hurricane Deck. This is one absolutely drenching experience! This is the closest you can ever get to the falls, ...

Our Niagara Falls highlight
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/06
We saw the Falls from all angles. Maid of the Mist is the most hyped, and it was fun, but this was our favorite. You do get very wet standing on the "Hurricane Deck," but you can choose to bypass that part of the tour. I've never experienced a hurricane, but it was quite windy and wet standing there. It's awesome to be so close to ...
Cave of the Winds is a very unique tour in Niagara Falls. It is worth doing but it has its drawbacks. First, you are issued a large raincoat/poncho and you must turn in your shoes in exchange for loosely woven moccasins. The moccasins provide better traction for you as you walk along a cave and out onto elaborate wooden decks but they are ...
This was the kids (and our) favorite. Don't miss this if you go to Niagara Falls. It is 7 to 8 dollars per person, but well worth it. It was an amazing experience. You even get to keep the special shoes they give you.

A GOOD WET TIME
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/08/04
The Cave of the Winds is a wonderufl experience there is in Niagara Falls, NY. The most wonderful memory I will have of this walk is being able to get 20 feet away from the base of the Bridal Viel Fall; it is so powerful. I went on a hot day, got completly soaked, and it felt good. When I have time again, you can bet that I will be going back.

As a native it can be fun on a hot day
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/04
AS a local- I see the falls with every person who visits me. One of my favorit things to do is the cave of the winds on a hot day. It is a sight to see. The weight of the Bridal falls as it hits you really shows the majesty of nature.
