Th Cloisters should be a must for anyone looking for a secluded spot or quite day out in Manhattan.
We took the M4 bus up there and it takes a while but goes thru some interesting neighborhoods. It also takes you right to the front door so hard to get lost.

The Cloisters is a medieval museum located in one of the most pleasant and enjoyable parks in Manhattan, Ft Tryon Park. Because most Manhattanites can't visualize a Manhattan north of Harlem, this area is mostly used by those who live nearby. Unbelievable venue for one of the nation's great collections of medieval art. If you are completely unfamiliar it makes the subject interesting and penetrable.
