Walking around chinatown is like a mini hong kong. I went to hong kong before and chinatown has that same atmosphere, but on a much smaller scale. it is exciting, lots of great restaurants and you can find just about anything you want (jewelry, handbags, name brand clothes, shoes, souvenirs, toys, electronics, watches, accessories, special teas and ...

A lesson in Economics
By Steve D, 03/21/08
Everyone should visit this Chinatown and see how people scrimp and save and work to get by. Shopping will not save America from stagflation. Hard work, high saving, mutual support and belief in the future might. See these virtues in action around Canal Street and contemplate on the 1,500,000,000 countrymen back home who have known little but hard work and subjection to a greater authority.

Go here for sure!

Chinatown is such a unique experience that you just cannot miss. Me and my friends spent like an entire day there because there was just so much to see. Its just a 10-15 minute subway ride from times square and is so worth the time and money. So many great products and you can bring them down on price which is even better.

We got turtle's here, Do not buy turtle's. They die. But other than that. The different Culture was great. Real great people. Some of them sing outside their shops. Busy, Bustling community. Something everyone in the city should see. Very interesting. See fresh duck hung up. All of it was great

The best thing in New York
By Sweethearts Anonymous, 08/17/07
This was the absolute best thing in New York. Terrific restaurants and shops and tons of bargains on fake prada and gucci. If you don't see this you haven't seen New York. It is very close to Soho and the Italian district too.
We were in NYC for a Dance Competition and took one day to take the subway to canal street to go to Chinatown. Emerging from the subway you immediantly see a sign that says "thieves din't discriminate due to what brand of handbag you carry..guard your purse".
I immediantly felt I was transported into a movie set. There were chanel ...

Chinatown is awesome!!! I bought 14 purses, yes 14. I keep finding one I liked better. I brought them home to TX and everyone wanted one. I bought some of the purses at Times Square from people selling them out of a blanket. They were more expensive and not as good of a knockoff as the ones in Chinatown. It was a little scary at first ...
