A huge collection of art and artifacts, you need at least two days to fully appreciate it all.

Best of all, it's next to Central Park, one of the city's treasures.

  • Best Museum Experience in NYC!
    By Gary, 09/23/05
Walk the "Museum Mile" in NY. "The MET" as us NY'ers call it is a great highlight of our world culture and artworks through the ages. Tours are available although I love to just aimlessly wander the halls in admiration of the talet displayed. My favorite room is downstairs and to the right when you enter - the Egyption ...

Very interesting classical sculpture of Greeks and Romans and ancient Egyptian art including tombs and step by step directions of preparing mummies. Spanish court in European painting section gives 19th century feeling of the cities.

I have been to this museum a dozen times in my lifetime. It takes at least several visits to fully absorb everything this museum has to offer. I have been to the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, and the Philadelphia Art Museum and I believe the MET is far superior. Whether it is the classical architecture or the breadth of their collection, they are an ...

  • Must see.
    By ColleenC, 09/15/05
Simply amazing place. Soo much to see, you'll want to keep coming back. Like most museums, there are permanent and special exhibitions. Make it a habit to scan TONY for special exhibitions. You won't be sorry.

    By joeld, 09/15/05
Being a person who is inspired by beauty, I enter the grand entrance to this magnificent building. Not only are there real flowers in the vases, but a grand stairway with a fantastic ceiling. There is artwork within the artwork, beauty within the beauty. Beauty is all around you. Each room engulfs you with so much history, artwork, glamour, and ...
