The view was unbelivable. It is something everybody, young and old, should see. It was a Saturday night and not much of a wait to go up. It was great watching the lights go on in the buildings.
The Empire State Building was such a let-down. The view was spectacular, but getting up to the observation deck was not good. The lines were long. I says lines (plural) because the are many lines one must stand in to see the top. One line (45 minutes) to get to the ticket area. The next line (10-15 minutes) to actually buy the tickets ($20). The ...
The outside doorman informed us it is an 1 hour wait to the top. We didn't ask him, he offered this info. We had purchased tickets online and thought okay it will probably be less than that being we already have tickets and decided to take this off of our list of things to do. We passed a line of at least 200 people waiting to get tickets and ...

A must see when visiting NYC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/09
We went at night and got to see "The City" all lite up. The lines weren't bad at all so maybe that is a good trick to go at night. The staff kept us moving along. We had tickets already, which was helpful and included in the price was an audio recorder that you put around your neck and listened to a nice voiced man telling you about ...

Long lines await the view
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/09
The ESB is one of the places everyone must visit when in NY and the folks that operate the attraction take full advantage of it. Expect a very long wait, multiple queuing locations, a green screen picture, rude staff, and inefficiencies that are too numerous to mention. The new "express service" that offers you the ability to jump to ...
Going to the top of the empire state building is definitely a must do while in New York. It is so much fun. The view once your up is really awesome, you don't even realize that you are 86 floors high! You can see anything and everything. It is really an amazing sight. It is not really that expensive, the lines are not long if you go on a ...

Not worth the long wait
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/08
After you waited for two hours with this voucher that we purchased in a package the kids were tired. We got there early and there was still a very long line. The kids were not impressed with it.
We went after dark and the view was gorgeous. I got all kinds of great pictures.
My suggestion would be to pay the extra for the express passes. We were to the top in less than 10 minutes, while the lady running the elevator said that the regular lines were taking about 2 hours. Totally worth the extra $20.
Last June i was in NY and visited the Empire State Building. In our hotel we bought tickets for the 86th (outside deck) and the 102nd floor (small inside deck). On the 86th floor you have a perfect view of all the buildings in NY. It's outside and you can feel the wind when you are watching, that makes it more intense. I would recommend it ...
