Staff always knew just what to get who, at what age,and why. Great developmental and educational toys.Plus they had the best kids costumes.

This was a great place to shop for young children's gifts. I'm so sad this store in Grand Central closed. I really enjoyed shopping there.

I brought in two children's books I had written for their buyer to review. The sales gal agreed I would receive the books back if they were not interested in them. A week later I returned and was told "the buyer" had misplaced the books and that he tends to be disorganized. I asked for $20 if the books were not found and returned. ...

The toys I purchased did not work as intended and all I could get was a six month store credit after much arguing from an attendant.

This is the best toy store that I've been to in New York City. It focuses on educational and creative toys rather than serving as yet another mass merchandising outlet for Nickelodeon, Disney, etc.

The grand central location of the Children's General Store is loaded with a variety of fun and educational toys, with reasonable prices for the city. Staff are friendly.
The place can get crowded easily, but it's a fun little store.
