I agree with many postings that the cakes are average at best. However, the mini cheesecakes are wonderful--especially the white chocolate macadamia nut and the key lime. The graham cracker crust is buttery without being greasy and the cheesecake smooth, creamy and not too sweet.

Dry!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/08
As a huge cupcake fan, I was so excited to try one of these famous cupcakes. I tried a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing. The cupcake was dry and fell apart easily. I ate half of it before throwing it out. The icing is entirely too sweet and layered on (and isn't that normally a GOOD thing??). Disappointed, I tried a vanilla one a few ...
On another one of our frequent visits to NYC, from the UK, we discovered the wonderful Biography Bookshop on Bleeker St. We decided to fortify ourselves first and so headed across the road to a 'shop with a line that sold cakes'.On an enquiry, the person (customer) at the front of the queue helpfully informed us that that what MB sold were ...

Good cupcakes rude service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/08
I've been there twice and the only reason I would ever go back to that bakery is for the cupcakes although there have been times where I was tempted not to go because the staff is SO RUDE! I think that the staff wants be these "cool angry looking NY people" who i'm sure are really from Ohio or Michigan and it's like dude ...

Totally worth it!

I went to Magnolia's but decided to pass on the cupcakes opting to try something that I really had a taste for. I got the Key Lime Tart and it was great! I am very picky about Key Lime desserts and theirs left me dreaming of then next time I could have one. I wished that I had bought 2!

Overall, I liked it, but they put too much frosting! It was SO sweet I had to scrape some of the frosting off before I could eat it. IDK, i guess some ...

A very good, very expensive little cupcake
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/07
We liked the ones with the chocolate buttercream icing best. The vanilla icing was so sweet it almost made our teeth hurt! But they are delicious. For $2.00 a cupcake, they better be. Cute little shop in a great little neighborhood. I do have to say, that when I've made cupcakes for my kid's school events, they didn't taste much ...

Magnolia's is a cute little bakery in a cute little NY neighborhood. The cupcakes are pretty, and the line snaking around the block would certainly seem to attest to quality. Sadly, that's not the case. The cupcakes were dry and crumbly, and the icing was sickeningly sweet -- and gritty to boot, almost as if they had run out of ...

Disappointing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/29/06
I went all my way yesterday (Nov.28,2006)and was disappointed. The staff were not friendly and helpful, it's as if that the cupcakes will be sold even if they have an "attitude". The cupcakes were dry and the frostings were soooo sweet. I wasted my time going there because it's not worth my time and money ($1.75) for a super sweet ...
