We generally like the Flying Star for the atmosphere but the prices just keep going up. One of the things that we find very disappointing is that sometimes Flying Star can serve us the Breakfast Sunday without the walnut and other times "it can't be done." We had been ordering this dish without walnuts for months and all the sudden ...

Variety of Menu
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/09
I liked the variety of menu choices offered at any time of the day. The quality is good along with attentive service. Parking is a problem depending on location. Overall a satisfying experience.
Their sandwiches are really good. The dessert is okay. The last time I ate dessert there, I went to the one in Bernalillo.I just had a slice of chocolate cake. It tasted horrible! It also made me sick about 30 minutes later. Maybe it was an isolated incident, but that was enough to turn me away from their chocolate cake.

HIGH prices that just keep going up....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/08
First off let's get it straight...most of the food and definitely the desserts ROCK at FS. However, the service is on a downslide and the prices keep getting higher. Five freaking dollars for a piece of cake??? I know it's in Nob Hill and I expect to pay a little more but their menu prices are freaking ridiculous. I think Flying ...
For the sake of civility with those I was with, I broke a long-standing rule I have for avoiding restaurants whose upscale decor screams of unacceptable profit margins on their food. Thus I ended up at the Flying Star. I ordered huevos rancheros, and my wife ordered a typical country breakfast……$21!! Then, to my horror, my huevos ...
We stopped in here for a quick dinner the night before an early flight. Nob Hill, the funky neighborhood home of the Flying Star is adjacent to UNM, not far from the airport, and full of interesting shops, bars and restaurants. This place has a huge diner-like menu and a newsstand. Flyers about local goings-on are plastered to the entry way and it ...

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/13/06
I know that I will pay a little more than I will at other restaurants in the downtown area, but today was a special occassion. We paid over $50 for lunch for 4 people. I was so disappointed that I couldn't get a drink refill! I wouldn't have left a tip, except that I already left it on my credit card.

Food and atmosphere was awesome. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were equally good. Location ws also within walking distance of some interesting shops.
Gets a little crowded at breakfast but service was quick and efficient.

Paying Too Much for Too Little!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/05
Every time we visit the Flying Star the food and service gets worse and worse. The last few times we ate there the hamburgers were raw, the service was horrid, and the price was outrageous. It seems that this place is WAY over hyped, and we will NEVER go back to this café again.

Flying Star rocks
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/04
Flying Star, formerly known as Double Rainbow, rocks. Their desserts are heavenly but I do not want to know how many calories are in them. Its nice to get a slice of cake and sit outside and watch all the freaks on Central.
