  • Ask for a break on the price
    By BenJ, 10/18/07
A fantastic $30 per round course. The problem: the actual price is nearly 3 times that! If you go there, ask where the money goes because it sure does not appear to be going into course development.

  • Much Improved; A Must See.
    By JMG, 08/23/07
What an amazing golf course. Nestled on the side of a picturesque valley, Crystal Springs offers not only challenging play, but some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen on a golf course. An older gentleman I played with said that in years past the course was in really poor coudition, but that was clearly not the case when I played ...

  • Okay for weekday play, but weekend rates are overpriced
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/22/07
I'm a local, so I've played at many of the courses in the area. This course, I've only played once (mainly because of the rates). I found a weekday twilight tee time, so it was cheap. I figured, at this rate, it'll be worth trying out. However, even at this rate, I don't think I'll be playing it much. At the weekend ...

  • Great day of golf
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/06
I liked the old course layout in the hills. A lot of uneven lies, but that is a part of the challenge. The fairways and tee boxes were in very good shape. The green were as well, with the exception of a few bumpy spots.
The pro shop staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a golfnow rate, and found it to be a very good bargain. I have played ...

  • A scenic beauty
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/06
A savage winter kept the course from reaching its potential until late summer. Greens are very nice, with fairways improving by the day. Pace of play is 4.5 hours, which can be under 4.0 hours on early weekends. I have really enjoyed this course over the past two years. Disregard comments from 2005 about the "course being a construction ...

  • Don't read the other reviews
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/06
I thought the course was much better than others have said. I've played many of the top course in the nation and this may not one of those, but the views are awesome. The course layout is tough plus there is only a little bit of useable land due to the nature preserve and the elevation changes. Others have said this course cost $80. I played ...

  • beautiful

this is a golfers course. While appearing to be an easy course, you have got to have your wits and sticks with you. I think it is the most underrated course in the Bay Area. You won't play to your handicap here. Great improvements have been made Maybe a bit overpriced but aren't all Bay Area courses?Catch the course early in the morning and you will not be disappointed.

  • Not bad...considering
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/05
Ok, so I live in Chicago now but come back to San Mateo county for family visits and holidays. Crystal Springs is my top choice. Sure, it may be a bit overpriced but they can afford to be considering the alternatives (and I've played most in the surrounding area). Despite some of these reviews, the greens have always played fine and I am yet ...

  • Save your money!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/05
This course is so way over-priced that it's not even funny! Greens fees at this dump should be around $40 bucks, not $80. Don't let the new cart paths and new bunkers fool you, it's still a goat track. My advice if you want to spend $80 is to go to up the street to the newly done San Francisco Muni course. • Enjoy the views, play golf somewher else!!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/05
Beautiful vistas, but the quality of the course was in stark contrast. Greens had just been "airated", the pro shop said they were puttable, NOT! and there was no break on the $80 greens fee .. and before 12 the price is the same, walk or ride. Cart paths and rough were in fair to poor condition. The facilities were from the 60's ...
