One day while visiting San Francisco I had an entire day to myself to roam around. I was told by my friend to check out the gothic Grace Cathedral. I spent much longer there than I had anticipated. The stained glass was beautiful and I found myself taking the self-tour from beginning to end and thoroughly enjoying it. Very worthwhile.

Just a tip-- be very careful where you park around the Cathedral, the parking attendents are very fast, and not very nice. But the church is beautiful, and has wonderful stained glass windows!~

The Cathedral was wonderful. As an Episcopalian, I especially enjoyed the Friday Noon Service, which I would recommend to any denomination. Great gift shop, great architecture.

It was a very pretty church, quite large, and fairly interesting. The two labrynths (one inside, and one outside) were interesting to watch people walking them. The "streamers" hanging down from the ceiling made for a pretty effect. The front doors had intricate "carvings" so to speak on it, but the most interesting thing ...

This cathedral is accoustically amazing. Vocal choirs lucky enough to perform here will be thrilled; the reverb is an amazing 7 seconds long. Our choir was allowed to sing a few songs here, after which several of us cried. The labyrinth is a great, calming experience, too. Lighting a candle seems easier here; there's no "Someone's watching me," feeling. A great spiritual haven away from the city bustle.

Grace Cathedral is San Francisco's spiritual crown jewel. Impressive both for it's size and faith. The Church's beautiful exterior and interior alone is worth the trip up Nob Hill. But the active congregation also welcomes people from all walks of life, and hosts relevant community events of all types, making a visit a must.

Coming from the UK, with our usually smaller buildings, the first impression of the Cathedral's immense size was immediately felt on approach by the steps and once inside. However, architecture apart, the Cathedral has also an ability to make it feel a personal space too and I could sense not only a warm welcome but a positive and uplifting ...

This is a lovely inspirational place to visit. Even if you prefer not to attend services (though they are very open and inclusive), do come and contemplate the mural. Walking the labyrinth may make you self-conscious, but it is a wonderful meditative spot in the center of the bustling city.

I attended a Palm Sunday service here - very inspiring! I attend a small church in Ohio and so the religious experience here was so very different. BEAUTIFUL architecture. Also, the history provided in the lower level regarding the church, the city, and the San Francisco fire is very interesting.
