Awesome experience and a great way to learn about history! I would definitely go back to catch some of the things I missed the first time there. I would recommend this activity for any tourist!

Going to go visit Alcatraz was fun and educational. There's always a different guest speaker who's knowledgeable about the place. Alcatraz is one of those once in a life time things to do and my only complain was that i should of taken a thicker jacket.

It was a fun short boat ride out the the Island. The line was a little long. The visit to The Rock was very interesting. It is very well documented and informative. I recommend the Audio Tour. Alcatraz Island was truly spectacular. The tour of the prison was fascinating and there were marvelous views of San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. However, since the island is a bird sanctuary, there was a lot of poop.

The history of this place is very cool. The audio tour is amazing, I saw so many people that were not doing the audio and they really missed out. The tour walks you through everything with great detail and very interesting facts. Unbelievable place, I loved every minute of it. We had a bonus with the Blue Angels practicing over head the day we were there. If your going to San Fran, don't miss Alcatraz!

I enjoyed it all! It's a major tourist trap, including vendors, guided tours and plenty to eat! Pretty spendy, very crowded, but worth the trip.

It's attractive to take a boat and go to an island, but there's nothing to see and the boat ride is lame. This should be the last thing you should do in SF.

i love what it represents for native people. it's quite profound when you really analyze the comparisons. but you'll have to do that for yourself. there is a book. "Alcatraz is not an island".
