Fisherman wharf. Great atmosphere, great sea food, great view as well...
me and my girlfiend had the famous dungeness crab by the seaside. it was a great experience.(dont go to the high class resteraunt there... if you want buy it at the stall... more fun)
Great place to walk around and see a bunch of stuff. Little shops and street performers. Beware!!! They rip tourists off though. Other than that it's awesome. There's a Hooters too.
It's a nice place for visiting probably once or twice, but without it's other attractions, I think it's quite boring. If you were to head here, you wouldn't want to pass up on getting on a SF Bay cruise or a trip to Alcatraz or Angel Island. That would be more interesting and a better use of your time.

If your going to be enlightened or to find yourself than this is not the place to go. It's just to have fun and have great seafood. It is a little pricey but it will leave a lasting impression.
If you go for the street performers, you'll be pleasantly surprised. They actually have some great talent. Everything esle is simply a tourist trap...and i say that only so you can experience real parts of the city. Go for Alcatraz, though. That's a must-see. Everything else, though, is an urban jungle. Boo.

I live by Fisherman's Wharf, and despite its touristy image, this is one place I wouldn't mind coming back to again and again. Think Pier 39, sea lions, scenic view of the San Francisco Bay, dungeoness crabs, unique souvenir shops, ferries cruising the bay, entertaining street performers, and the mysterious fog rolling in from the Pacific Ocean, and you too will fall in love with this area.
When you go to San Francisco you just MUST go to the Wharf. It has the atmosphere you are looking for, and have seen in countless movies and TV shows: It smells like the sea, you can get some of the worlds best clam chowder and sourdough bread, great shops, sidewalk entertainers, and you get to see real seal lions just inches away lounging around ...
Fisherman's Wharf is bustling with shops, street vendors, and of course, restaurants ! My family and I searched for a reasonable place to sit down and eat but everything was very much over-priced. I went down to the local tourism booth and asked for the best spot to eat seafood for the best prices and i was told Taylor St was the place I was ...
