The views from this area were really amazing so I definitely recommend stopping by and taking a walk. However, be prepared that Fisherman's Wharf is also crowded with some fairly tacky tourist shops and it can feel a bit overwhelming.

I loved it there, but it's not that good. But i give the restaurants 5 stars. I do not believe there are enough activities for children.

Good place to shop & eat

While it's free to walk up and down Pier 39, you're bound to spend money in one of the many shops or restaurants. It's also the best place to see the sea lions on K dock. It's cool, so bring a jacket.
So much to do and so little time. You can spend a week here and not eat at all the restaurants, or see all the attractions. The Seals are wonderful. The Aquarium is a must-see. Buy the city pass. It enables you to see what you want when you want...with unlimited metro access! A safe and fun place to visit.

Eating fish
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/11/07
When I was there before 37 Years , I and my friend took the Cable which went down the road to Fisherwharf . We enjoyed the Blue Sea and the walking around. We ate fishes at a resturant but sadly it was not as we expected . I think it was frosen as we were eating in the University restuarant. It is great memories.

we have gone to there a few times on our visit to see family. it is very beautiful, full of life, and just amazing. if you go to san fran, you have to walk the wharf.

A must-do, but it's just OK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/30/07
Good: There are spectacular views of the GG Bridge and Alcatraz. The sea lions on Pier 39 are entertaining to watch. There are tons of photo opportunities here.
Bad: Fisherman's Wharf is a TOURIST TRAP. It's headache. Pickpockets are almost as abundant as tasteless souvenirs. It's too commercial. The chain restaurants offer ...
